About

The Baby Boomers and the generation before them held the traditional idea that success and the American Dream was having two kids, a car, and a house in the suburbs.  However, young adults today no longer hold the same traditional ideals and goals due to changes in technology, society and the economy.  Every generation must decide what ideals and goals are most important to them and what is most important to young adults today?

“One American Dream?” is going to find out.  “One American Dream?” will be a feature length documentary exploring how the traditional idea of the American Dream has changed and what it now means to Generations X & Y.  It will answer the important questions and give a voice to young adults allowing them to say who they are and what’s important to them.  The questions and topics that will be explored include:

  • What ideals are most important to Generations X & Y?
  • How has the availability of technology changed the way the American Dream is viewed?
  • Has society’s openness allowed more young people to achieve their American Dream?
  • Has the limitation of people’s freedoms, in certain places, contributed to their American Dream not being achievable?
  • Has the economic situation given young adults a reality check to what’s achievable in life?
  • Has the politicization of the American Dream changed its meaning?
  • What does it mean when someone says they want to “be successful”?

“One American Dream?” will include people from all walks of life. From the CEO; to the recent immigrant who came to the United States to improve the lives of their family; to the recent college graduate who is looking for a job.

“One American Dream?” will also include experts the fields of business, economics, social sciences and politics to put things in perspective.  From where the American Dream has come; to the politicization of the American Dream; to the current economic situation; to the struggles faced by Generations X & Y.

“One American Dream?” is the recipient of a 2010 Artist Grant from the Puffin Foundation.

“One American Dream?” is also a sponsored project of Fractured Atlas, a non-profit arts service organization, which allows contributions to be tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law.
